Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with Nina Vincent L.Ac., MS, CMT |
Acupuncture is based on the continuous flow of Chi (Life Energy) throughout the body. By using acupuncture needles, the physician helps control the flow of Chi, to different parts of the body. Acupuncture is used to treat many different types of ailments and illnesses, including anxiety, stress, insomnia, infertility, paralysis, depression, PMS, skin disorders, and headaches. Traditional Chinese Medicine - Through the use of special diagnostic techniques and various herbs, Chinese Medicine treats both chronic and acute illnesses, alone or in conjunction with acupuncture. Each individual's signs and symptoms are observed to create an herbal formula tailored specifically for that patient's condition. A formula can be two or more single herbs carefully chosen and mixed either in powder form or as raw herbs (to be cooked and ingested as tea). - Philosophy - Holistic - For more than two thousand years, practitioners within the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have been taking into consideration not only their patients' family history, diet, and physical symptoms but all aspects of their spiritual, emotional, and work life - during periods of illness and health. In the spirit of this tradition, and through the use of acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, and massage, Nina Vincent focuses on establishing balance in the lives of her patients. Her goal is to call forth the body's own ability to heal while empowering the patient to take the necessary steps to promote healthy living and well being. Preventive - TCM is preventive medicine. By recognizing disharmony before it becomes disease, TCM is often able to prevent the occurrence of many chronic and difficult to treat illnesses. - Training - In 1996 Nina Vincent completed the Advanced Training Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Acupressure Institute, Berkeley, CA. After completing a four year graduate program in 2000, she was awarded a Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine by the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences, Oakland, CA.
